What if physical objects could trigger trusted actions?

At TAGBASE, we’ve spent the last years solving one fundamental problem: How can a physical object prove that it is the genuine original?

Today, our cryptographically secured NFC identities allow products to verify their authenticity using nothing more than a smartphone.

But what if authenticity could do much more than just display a verification page?

Introducing the idea: TrustGateway

Over the coming year, we plan to begin exploring a new concept that we call the TAGBASE TrustGateway.

The vision is to develop a compact hardware device capable of verifying our uncopyable NFC identities and instantly executing configurable actions in the physical or digital world.

Imagine simply touching an authentic NFC identity to a device and securely triggering actions such as:

  • 🔓 Opening a door
  • 💡 Switching on lights
  • ⚙️ Starting or unlocking a machine
  • 📡 Calling a webhook or API
  • 🤖 Triggering IoT automations
  • 🎵 Launching interactive experiences
  • 📦 Authenticating consumables or refill cartridges before enabling their use

The important part is not the action itself.

The important part is that the action is only executed after cryptographic verification of an authentic, uncopyable physical identity.

One hardware platform. Countless applications.

Our goal is not to build another access control system or another IoT controller.

Instead, we want to create a universal trust appliance that acts as the missing bridge between trusted physical identities and automated digital processes.

New applications shouldn’t require new hardware.

They should simply be configured through software.

Looking ahead

This is currently an idea we are excited to explore, and we expect to begin development next year.

If successful, TrustGateway could become another building block of the TAGBASE Trust Infrastructure, enabling secure interactions between physical objects and digital systems across industries.

We’re looking forward to sharing our progress as the project evolves.
