TAGBASE Joins the NFC Forum
We are proud to announce that TAGBASE is now an official Adopter Member of the NFC Forum.
For us, this is more than a new membership. It represents another important step in our mission to create a global trust infrastructure for physical objects powered by secure NFC technology.
What is the NFC Forum?
Founded in 2004, the NFC Forum is the global industry association dedicated to advancing the use of Near Field Communication technology.
Its members include leading technology companies, semiconductor manufacturers, payment providers, automotive companies, consumer brands, research institutions and innovative startups from around the world.
The NFC Forum develops the technical specifications, testing mechanisms and certification programs that help NFC-enabled devices, tags and applications work securely, reliably and consistently across manufacturers and markets.
Its work makes many familiar tap-based interactions possible, including:
- Contactless payments
- Digital keys and access control
- Public transport and ticketing
- Device pairing
- Identity verification
- Product authentication
- Digital Product Passports
- Consumer engagement
- Healthcare applications
- NFC wireless charging
In simple terms, the NFC Forum helps ensure that when someone taps an NFC-enabled product with their smartphone, the interaction works as expected. Regardless of the device, manufacturer or location.
Its mission is to enable secure and intuitive tap-based experiences for users around the world. To achieve this, the organization brings companies together to discuss market requirements, develop specifications and test cases, operate its certification program and explore emerging applications through dedicated Special Interest Groups.
Why this matters to TAGBASE
At TAGBASE, NFC is the bridge between physical objects and their digital identities.
Our technology enables companies to give individual products and physical assets a secure, unique and verifiable digital identity. A simple smartphone tap can then be used to authenticate a product, access its Digital Product Passport, document ownership, record service activities, support traceability or trigger other digital interactions without requiring the user to install an app.
We do not see NFC merely as a way to open a website. Combined with secure NFC chips, cryptographic verification and the right digital infrastructure, it can become a powerful trust layer for the physical world.
Becoming an NFC Forum Adopter Member connects TAGBASE more closely with the international NFC ecosystem. The membership provides opportunities to participate in industry meetings, market discussions, interoperability testing and the NFC Forum Certification Program, as well as to collaborate with other organizations working on the next generation of contactless experiences.
It also allows us to follow the continued development of NFC technology and contribute our practical experience from areas such as:
- Secure product authentication
- Unique digital identities for physical objects
- Digital Product Passports
- Ownership and lifecycle documentation
- Track and trace
- Maintenance and service records
- App-free consumer interactions
- Trust infrastructure for third-party applications
Building the trust layer for the physical world
Billions of smartphones already support NFC. The interaction is familiar, intuitive and increasingly relevant across industries.
At the same time, the need to reliably connect physical products with trustworthy digital information is growing rapidly. Counterfeit protection, supply-chain transparency, the circular economy, product ownership and the upcoming Digital Product Passport are all increasing the demand for secure digital identities attached to physical objects.
We believe NFC will play a central role in this development.
By joining the NFC Forum, TAGBASE becomes part of the international community working to make NFC interactions more secure, reliable and interoperable. We look forward to learning from other members, exchanging ideas and contributing our perspective as we continue building a trust infrastructure for the physical world.
