TAGBASE Is No Longer “Just” Fighting Counterfeits — Here’s Why

For a long time, we described TAGBASE as a solution to stop counterfeiting and empower brands.

And that was true. But it wasn’t the whole truth.

Over the last months, something became very clear to us — through building, through shipping, and especially through conversations with enterprises, partners, and large organizations:

Product authenticity alone does not do justice to what TAGBASE actually is.

What we are building goes far beyond fighting counterfeits. TAGBASE is becoming a trust infrastructure for physical objects.

From a Use Case to an Infrastructure

TAGBASE started with one core insight:

Physical objects need an uncopyable digital identity.

That foundation hasn’t changed. What changed is our understanding of what becomes possible once that foundation exists.

By giving physical objects a secure, unforgeable identity via dynamic NFC, we unlocked far more than authenticity checks. Step by step, application by application, the platform grew — naturally, almost inevitably.

At some point, it became obvious: We were no longer building a single solution. We were building infrastructure.

The TAGBASE Platform — Layered by Design

TAGBASE is structured as a layered platform, designed to support many use cases — both today and in the future.

Core Foundation

At the heart of TAGBASE is the core layer:

This foundation is the same for every application.

Optional Platform Layers

On top of the core foundation, we offer optional layers that extend what’s possible:

All layers are modular and accessible via APIs.

Applications Built on TAGBASE

With this foundation in place, multiple applications naturally emerged:

Verify — Product Authenticity

Our original use case, now formalized as an application:

Product authenticity is still critical — it’s just no longer the whole story.

Browser Extension — Trust in Secondary Markets

We launched a browser extension to tackle one of the biggest problems in online marketplaces:

The extension verifies:

This brings trust into secondary marketplaces — directly where transactions happen.

Track & Trace — End-to-End Supply Chain

Our track & trace application addresses:

Each product’s identity is tracked across manufacturing, logistics, distribution, and retail — creating a verifiable history tied to the physical object itself.

Presence — Verifiable Attendance

Another application we are currently building solves a different problem:

By tying presence to physical interaction, we enable trustworthy proof of attendance without relying on screenshots, QR codes, or easily manipulated systems.

An Open Platform for What Comes Next

One of the most important realizations for us was this:

We don’t need to build every application ourselves.

TAGBASE is designed so that:

This turns TAGBASE from a product into a platform for physical-digital trust.

Why We Rebranded

As our platform evolved, our external communication no longer matched reality.

Calling TAGBASE “a solution against counterfeiting” was:

So we restructured our website, our messaging, and our positioning to reflect what TAGBASE truly is today — and where it’s going.

We are not moving away from authenticity. We are putting it in its rightful place: as one application on top of a much bigger foundation.

The Bigger Picture

Physical objects power our economy — but trust around them is still fragmented.

Our mission with TAGBASE is simple to say, but ambitious to build:

Create the trust infrastructure for physical objects.

Step by step. Layer by layer. Application by application.

If you’re curious, the new structure is live on our website:

We’re excited about what’s ahead — and we’re just getting started.
